I often get referrals via Facebook posts asking if anyone knows a web designer that can create a website for a local business – and usually someone will comment “But you can get a Wix website for free and it’s really easy to use.“
They are right, you can get a Wix website for free however you will need to have an address like http://username.wix.com/sitename – not very catchy or attractive. It will also have the Wix branded adverts at the top and bottom.
You will also have to create the website yourself. They do make it look easy on TV and on You Tube – you can have a good looking website in minutes – but what they don’t show you is the time it took to create or find the images and create the content.
There is also getting the website ranked on Google so that potential new clients can find you. Now that will definitely take you more than a few minutes!
So while a Wix website may be free (or very very cheap) you will need to do everything yourself.
If you come to a web designer like myself, I will meet with you and find out what you want to achieve with your website. I will also share any ideas of my own that could help enhance your website and your business development.
I will discuss with you about your images and content, whether you want to pass this to me or create them yourself. I will then get on with building the website that will work effectivly for you.
If I feel you don’t need a website and it can be done another way, I will tell you. I believe in building long term relationships with my clients and the people I work with. After all, it’s as much in my interest as it is yours for your website & social media to work.
Once your website is launched I will still be there to help you, face to face (I love a Caramel Latte), on the phone or via a messaging app.
As my husband once said to me (whilst we were planning our wedding) “Just having a camera doesn’t make me a photographer or mean I can take great pictures. I want someone who knows what they are doing and I can trust.” I think you’ll agree this was and still is great advice!
So if you have a project in mind then please get in touch to arrange an initial meeting and see how I can help you.
