Privacy Policy

At Bear Behind I value your information. I have never and will never sell your details on to other companies or people. I wouldn’t like it done to me so I don’t do it either.

This page may be a bit long winded but I want you to be assured I have taken all possible steps to make sure your data is secure with me.

So grab a cup of tea and a biscuit (or a glass of wine – my recommendation) and sit back…

Why I Updated My Privacy Policy

On the 25th May 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) shall come into effect. Under this new law, European standards in data protection shall align with current technology standards.

This is good news for all individuals who are affected by data processing and shall maintain standards in relation to the security of your personal data.

I have now updated my Privacy Notice in accordance with the new General Data Protection Regulation

Where I Store My Data

I use technical and organisational measures to safeguard your personal data. Electronic data is kept on secured computers and storage while non-electronic data is also stored securely.

I keep the data I store to a minimum that allows me to deal with you as a client or supplier.

Cookies

No, sadly not the biscuit ones, A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive.

Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

I use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used (see the section on Google Analytics below). This helps me analyse data about webpage traffic and improve my website in order to tailor it to your needs. I only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help me provide you with a better website by enabling me to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives me access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with me.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

Google Analytics

I use a third party service called Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. I do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. It makes me very happy when I get lots of visitors.

The information collected is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone.

I do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting my website. I would stop using them if they even thought about it!

Mailing Lists

Yes, those things. I hate those lists that send you loads of useless rubbish so I don’t. I will only send you useful information and not every 5 minutes like some do.

The only information I collect is to be able to send you a newsletter and personalise it, for example with your first name and your email address.

I have never and would never sell or rent your details to another business or organisation. As I said earlier, I don’t like that so I don’t do it.

Access To Your Personal Information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that I hold. If you email your request to my very nice data protection officer, her name’s Katie (that’s me), at dpo@bearbehind.co.uk.

Links to other websites

My website contains links to other websites including some of my clients. I’d love you to have a look at these (you may see something you like for your site).

However, once you have used these links to leave my site, you should note that I do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, I cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement.

You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

I will update this Privacy Policy as and when required when I have something new or when required by law to do so. It was last updated on Saturday 9th June 2018.

So…that wasn’t too bad was it? More tea (or wine)?
